Culling Strike Support Increased Dmg Poe

Extremely versatile Path of Exile melee fighter. Great defenses from high block chance and very high damage allow it to face any Boss

Updated for Patch 3.9

Jun 01, 2019 Both ascendancies work great with a tectonic slam. Jugg provides defense, Chieftain, on the other hand, has some pretty sweet dmg nodes. It is a personal preference, I would choose survivability over damage because with Oni-Goroshi we have enough damage anyway. + Legion monsters tend to hit pretty hard, you can’t deal damage if you are dead. 🙂 Hope it helps. AoE Attack Aura Bow Chaining Channelling Chaos Cold Curse Duration Fire Lightning Melee Mine Minion Movement Physical Projectile Spell Strike Support Totem Trap Trigger Support Skill Gems /130 Name. Mana Multiplier: 130% Requires Level 18 Supports any skill that hits enemies. Supported Skills have +0.75% to Critical Strike Multiplier Supported Skills have + (75-103)% to Critical Strike Multiplier This is a Support Gem. It does not grant a bonus to your character, but to skills in sockets connected to it.

-Updated for Patch 3.9

Blade Flurry Gladiator is one of the most versatile builds in the game. It’s very tanky due to high block chance while maintaining extremely high damage. It’s very efficient at farming maps, eternal Labyrinth and killing bosses. Blade Flurry scales well, because of damage being boosted for each stage reached while channeling, which combined with high physical damage allows you to clear all the endgame content, including both Shaper and Uber Atziri. Investing in unique items like the Belly of the Beast and The Surrender will help you reach this build’s maximum defensive potential.

The full list of our other Path of Exile Crafty Guides can be found here: Odealo's Crafty Guides - Full List

1. Gameplay

Blade Flurry is one of the most satisfying builds in the game. High block chance allows you to tank most hits while you shield charge between packs of monsters obliterating them with Blade Flurry. The most important part of the gameplay is to channel Blade Flurry until it reaches six stacks and then release it for an explosion.

2. Build's PROS & CONS

PROS
  • extremely high damage due to Blade Flurry stacks scaling
  • over 70% chance to block attacks and spells thanks to the Gladiator Ascendancy
  • high clear speed on maps
  • over 5000 life with just a little investment
  • one of the best boss farming builds in the game
CONS
  • cannot do Reflect Physical Damage mod

3. Leveling tips

Leveling with Blade Flurry is very easy, because of damage continually being boosted for each stage you reach while channeling. Thanks to this killing packs and bosses go very fast, and the build doesn’t require significant investments during the leveling phase. We recommend using Cleave early on, then replace it with Sunder as soon as you kill Merveil in act 1. After reaching level 28, you can switch to Blade Flurry. Preferably use a one-handed weapon with the highest physical damage you can find and shield in the off-hand slot.

Suggested leveling Gem setups:

Cleave/Sunder setup
Cleave - will be the first skill you should be using, and replace it with Sunder as soon as you kill Merveil in Act 1
Sunder - grants better range and good AoE
Added Fire Damage Support - great buff to your DPS
Maim Support - this Gem will increase your damage and maim enemies on hit, which slows their movement speed and increases the damage they take
Blade Flurry setup
Blade Flurry - you should start using Blade Flurry as soon as you hit level 28. Try to use(and level up) as many Support Gems you plan to use later on with this setup. This always makes the transition to your final build much easier
Melee Physical Damage Support - it's the most important Support Gem for this build. Buy it in act 2 as soon as you hit level 18 and use instead of Maim support
Added Fire Damage Support - great buff to your DPS
Concentrated Area of Effect Support - increases all damage by a lot in exchange for reduced Blade Flurry AoE. Can be swapped for Increased Area of Effect Support for clearing wider areas, but it’s mandatory for killing bosses
Utility Gems
Ancestral Warchief - this totem increases your melee damage and deals a lot of damage on its own. It benefits from the Physical/Melee Support Gems (e.g., Faster Attacks, Maim Support)
Punishment - definitely the best curse for this build, which grants you more melee damage and attack speed when you hit cursed enemies. You can start using it at level 24
Herald of Ash - combined with Sunder’s seismic wave it will destroy packs of monsters in no time
Shield Charge - this movement skill, linked with Faster Attacks Support allows you to move through locations much faster

Bandits:

It's recommended to kill all the Bandits for two additional Passives Points. If you are a high level you may also switch to Alira for extra Crit. Multiplier if you need some additional damage

Leveling Skill Trees:

30 Points Skill Tree
Priorities: 1) Art of the Gladiator 2) Defiance 3) Retaliation 4) Swift Skewering

5. Gear Setup

Blade Flurry is an extremely flexible build. It scales incredibly well with expensive gear and powerful, unique items we have listed. We suggest trying out the end-game version of this build because this is precisely where this build truly shines. Most of the items can be replaced with cheaper alternatives for the leveling/early mapping phase which is included in the following section.

If by any chance you are looking for cheap PoE Currency needed to get all recommended gear, you are at the right place. Simply head over to our Market section accessible via link on top of the page.

Our recommended items will:

  1. Cap your resistances

Culling Strike Support Increased Dmg Poe 5

So, I recently got this gem and I have a fair few questions that I'd like answered.
This instantly kills any enemy that gets brought to 10% or less HP via the supported attack, yes?
Should I level it before adding it to an offensive skill, to lower the negative effect?
Should I use my Gemcutter's on it to get the Quality bonus, or should I save those for other gems?
Is it even worth supporting a main offensive skill with it? (Keeping in mind I'm not even close to having Gems/Gear for a 6L yet)
If I slot it into a skill purely to use for the Culling Effect, which skill would be recommended? If it's on its own skill, I'd probably use it purely for Rares/Bosses.
Character Info:
Level 46 Claw Witch
Main Attacks: Dual Strike (+Crit Chance), Spectral Throw (+L Dmg, Lesser Multiple Prjectiles)
Supporting Attacks: Viper Strike, Whirling Blades

Yes, if the hit brought it to 10% or less it's instantly dead, note that you have to 'hit' it so damage over time doesn't count.
You can but it's not much of a negative effect.
Hell no, never use gemcutters from 0% quality, they're too rare for that, you can buy a 10% quality gem for 1 GCP usually.
It's mostly not worth it, damage bonus is small and it's barely worth it to have culling effect only for stronger rares/bosses. The support has some rather specialized uses, with it a party 'culler' with a lot of MF gear but crap dps can steal kills for better drops.

Wait.. did you already ask this yesterday or was it someone else?

a level 20 gem and a GCP gives a 20% lv1 gem at the vendor
NEVER use GCPs to quality a gem directly
Forums are SOOO much fun on patch day!
Casuals play because it's fun, not to achieve any goal unreachable with their resources.
We are playing for the next difficulty, the next keystone, the next item upgrade.
Not to feel better than anyone else.

A couple of them, in a separate thread, yeah~ I had a few more, so I figured I might as well make it into the one topic.
I didn't know Gemcutters were that rare, so I'll definitely save or sell those later~
Hrm.. can Culling be used with Minions or Totems? I'm considering a Summoner/Totemer and Culling could be good, at least until I get some of the harder to get supports (I'm trying not to buy things off other players if I don't absolutely have to)

Of course, totems cast the skill just as you would, all bonuses or penalties, be it on your gear, passives or linked supports apply.
Minions get bonuses on gem combination used to summon them, and any bonuses on gear/passives that explicitly say 'to minions'. So if you put culling strike gem on a minion it will have following mods when summoned:
- 10% less cast and attack speed
- 10% increased damage (note that it's any damage the minion does, attacks, spells if able, even minion instability explosion)
- has culling strike

Wonderful! Sounds like Culling might fit into that build a lot better then~

On my Summoner I have Culling linked to lvl 1 Arc and Increased Rarity gem. I also use Elemental Equilibrium so the lighting damage from arc gives my specters ele damage a big boost and affects minion instability damage if you use that. Arc isnt used for damage. Just buffing minion damage and increased rarity when the boss/mob is low.

Put culling strike with blind and increased rarity on a flame totem. Pop it down next to each boss you fight.

That's pretty stupid advice, tbh. To get level 20 gems, you need to level yourself to like level 85 or so. That's not really achievable unless by that time you already have lots of currency and knowledge about prices etc.. Also, it's much easier to achieve if you have quality gems already. And that's not mentioning the fact that you'll need to level your gem all the way from 1 again..
'Don't waste GCPs on non-quality gems' is great advice. 'Don't ever spend GCPs on any gems' is terrible advice. 'Don't spend GCPs on gems until you know a lot more about what you're doing' is good advice though.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

Sorry for the necro bump but I was curious about culling + spectres. Does it only affect their physical attack swings, or will culling also affect spectre skills? For example, arc from the mages in barracks or unrighteous fire on burning miscreations. If it is just their arm swinging, doesn't seem like it would be worth slotting it with spectres, but if it affects spells cast, that's something else entirely.
